"
The Seasons of Our Lives"

First it was snow then the record breaking cold.  Now it is fog.  Soon it will be rain followed by a forecast that includes more snow.  It has been a long month! Many people are getting tired of dreary days and slushy streets.  That is probably why the lament being heard around the region is:  When will it all end?

Yet, it is not only the weather that causes us to cry out in desperation.  There are also those seasons in our lives that are filled with a seemingly endless cycle of disasters and disheartening news.   We may even find ourselves feeling deserted by God and abandoned by friends.   Like Job we cry out:  Why is life so hard?  Why do we suffer?  I beg you, God, don’t forget me!  (Job 7:1, 7a CEV)

One of the reasons God decided to become like us – to enter into human life as the Messiah – was for the opportunity to be with us during all the seasons of our lives.  Unlike some of the gods that were popular during Jesus’ time, we do not worship one who stands apart from us.  Our God walks with us through all the valleys and mountain top experiences that make up the very fabric of our lives.  Nothing - absolutely nothing – can separate us from the love of the One who created us, loves us, and sustains us.

It is up to us to decide if having the answers is more important than it is to have God, through Christ, with us wherever life happens to take us.
